Case Law Research & Writing Internship
(Summer 2010):
Forensicon is seeking a legal writing intern to focus on the area of researching and writing case law summaries.
Ideally, the student will be pursuing a Law degree. The internship will consist primarily of researching case laws that are pertinent to the computer forensic industry and writing summaries to be published on our website. Excellent writing skills are a must, as is the ability to communicate and work effectively in a team environment. Commitment:
- 7-10 hours per week for 10-15 weeks, on a schedule TBD.
- A $600 stipend to cover internship related expenses will be provided upon conclusion of this 100 hour internship.
Qualifications:
- Current 2nd or 3rd year law student (pursuing J.D.)
- Thorough understanding of both Local and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence
- Additional coursework in Intellectual Property, Trade Secrets, Copyrights, Trademarks and/or Patents highly desired
- Experience drafting common discovery requests and pre-trial motions
- Some familiarity of case law with high impact on electronic discovery (e.g. Zubulake)
- Technologically oriented with strong computer skills (knowledge of data storage mechanics a plus)
- Highly organized and attentive to detail, with strong writing skills
Objectives:
Create master library for samples of common legal documents as pertaining to electronic discovery:
- Motion to Compel Production and/or Forensic Examination of Computers
- Motion for Sanctions due to Spoliation of Electronic Evidence
- Preservation Letter and Notice
- Protective Order
- Interrogatories and Requests to Produce
Compile repository of expert affidavits and declarations re:
- Misappropriation
- Spoliation
- Other
Analyze case wins and losses, identifying similar litigation locally and nationally, and determining both successful and unsuccessful fact logic flow, argumentation, and refutation strategies
