Neubecker Presents Computer Forensics at Kane County Bar Association
ST. CHARLES, IL: September 17, 2004 - The Labor and Employment Law Committee of the Kane County Bar Association has invited Lee Neubecker, President and CEO of Forensicon, a computer forensics and electronic discovery firm in Chicago, to speak at their monthly meeting about computer forensics and employment law.
While computer forensics has lately become ubiquitous in the practice of law, there are still many facets to this industry that eludes the attention of legal practitioners. Neubecker hopes his presentation will help prepare counsel with an in-depth knowledge of the technology behind forensics, and how that technology can facilitate in the success of cases that involve electronic evidence.
Although many people may not be aware of the immediate connection between computer forensics and employment law, there are several landmark cases that involve employment discrimination suits (e.g. Zubulake vs. U.S.S. Warburg LLC, 2003 US Dist. LEXIS 18771 (SDNY, Oct. 22, 2003) that highlight the importance of electronic evidence.
In addition, Neubecker will provide several fictitious case scenarios
that
illustrate what happens to deleted or missing files - where they hide in the
computer - and how computer forensics can locate the movement of electronic
evidence, IP addresses, and internet activities. He will also share with the
audience the industry best practices of using computer forensics when
managing a case that involves electronic evidence.
It will be an hour-long presentation, with committee members participating in a fifteen-minute Q&A session with Neubecker to wrap up the meeting.
