Forensicon Featured in Computerworld

CHICAGO, IL - Apr. 2, 2007:
Forensicon management was interviewed by Computerworld on the rapidly growing field of computer forensics.

The focus of the interview was career opportunities in the industry and the type of background that lends itself to being a “Digital Detective.”  It also addressed the question of why computer forensics is growing so quickly and how it has moved from being a discipline used by government agencies in criminal investigations to now being implemented to successfully litigate civil cases.

With the recent update to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, attorneys and their clients are required to properly identify, preserve, and collect all relevant sources of electronic evidence pursuant to a claim in a lawsuit.  In lawsuits involving theft of IP and the misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential client data, often a traditional document review of electronic files does not reveal attempts by an individual to spoliate or misappropriate data.  It is only through a forensic investigation with trained experts utilizing forensic tools that evidence of this nature can be discerned and properly reported. Savvy attorneys have learned this and are using forensic experts to effectively make these types of arguments.
